Week 10

This week we made lesson plans. After looking for ideas online, I have found that I really wish I had a list of good video companies to use. I couldn't find a good video, but I know that there are good companies out there that make really good movies. I remember watching short, kid friendly clips on subjects being taught, but I don't remember the name of the movies.

The internet is very useful in finding good apps for iPads and iPods. You just need to type in your topic in google search and people write pretty good reviews on all the different apps.

Week 9

This week we learned how to design a website. It was confusing for some things and other things came really easy. There were times that I knew how to do a task, but it wouldn't show up after I applied the effects.

I would use what I learned for making a website for the class. I would not have the students do this with the knowledge that I currently have. I also would only have the students use this if they were older. I would not do this lesson with younger kids.

Week 8

Today we learned about setting up websites and different styles and what works well and what doesn't work well. For having a classroom website, I have learned to keep it simple, yet interesting. I need to have a home button on all the pages and to not overwhelm the website with colors and flashing things. I also want to have a blog on the website for my classroom so that parents can easily ask questions.

On Web20 had great choices to start doing websites. Kafafa is a good one that is easy to navigate and set up. JimDo is easy to follow at first, but when you want to do specific things, it doesn't let you.

Week 7

Today in class we worked with the instructor desk, smartboard, ipods, and ipads. It was a great experience working will all of the technology. With the instructor board, we just got little in sites on how to work the basic stuff. The smartboard, we just got familiar with different activities that you can do. I became more comfortable with using it, but haven't found any specific activities to use in the classroom.

We found a good app on the ipad that I can use in the classroom if we are equip with ipads. There are many great apps on the ipods and ipads. The only issue is having the technology in your classroom to actually use it. Some of the apps found, you can use with paper and pen, you just won't get all the extras and visuals. They are great for getting ideas though.

Week 6

This week we learned about Podcasting. I see it as something that you can use in your classroom as an assignment medium. Podcasting is a quick process and is less difficult to get compared to imovies. I feel that it is more appropriate to use Podcasting for assignments, since it is quick and easy and gives the students a different way to complete an assignment.

Using Podcasts that have been done before is also a good idea. The tough thing about it is finding good ones. I is a great resource to get ideas from and build off of what was presented. You can also so sections of Podcasts if the full thing isn't good.

Week 5

Today we worked with the clickers and socrative. I believe that this is a great tool to use in the classroom. I would assign students a specific clicker, so that I can use it as an attendance tool and a way to track the student's knowledge and participation. I don't plan on letting the students see the other students answer selections until everyone has answered and we go over it. I like the clickers better than socrative, since the students are able to change their answer. If I was doing a test, I could use the socrative program, since the students could do it at their own pace and correcting the tests will be easier. I would not use it for multiple choice group tests though.

Working with the different search medias, Google, Bing, and Altavista, I have found that it doesn't really matter what one my students choose. The three websites come up with pretty much the same results, just in different orders. The students can use which ever one they are most comfortable with. I will encourage them to try a different one, so they gain experience though.

I could use the activity on looking at different websites with my students also. They will be able to critically look at the different websites and differentiate which ones are creditable and which ones aren't.

Week 1

I learned how to set up blogging. This can be very beneficial in a classroom. The parents and students can get on and ask questions and answer ones from other people regarding things in the class, school, or community. It is a great way to get the students' home lives connected to what is going on in school. They are easy to join and follow. I am considering using this when I teach.
